When deciding on what type of Antique Heart Pine you purchase; that decision might be based on the history, or provenance. From Webster’s Dictionary; origin or area of origin. For example, Kentucky Horse Barn, Cotton Gins, and Whiskey Barrel Reclaimed sounds better than Chicken House or random barns, right? What am I getting at, you ask? Tell your own story, nobody that ever walks on a reclaimed floor from us will doubt any tale you decide to spin, for whatever reason. Tell them it came from Secretariats stable or Barn on Monticello, that is up to you.
Unfinished Hardwood flooring is graded based on the face surface, specifically its appearance. Our Unfinished domestic hardwoods include White Oak, Red Oak, Walnut, Hickory and Hard Maple. All hardwoods are Kiln dried with relief on the backside; are tongue and groove on all four sides, aka end matched, with precision millwork throughout all grades.

This means your entire order was dried and milled together, ensuring a better fit during installation and a much easier acclimation process. All of our floors are 3/4 inch thick real wood, built to last. With a minimum of 50% visible heartwood, these floors look amazing with a clear coat or finished for age.

Pick-Up Locations for Caribbean Heart Pine
Yes, we offer pick up warehouse locations in New Orleans (home port), South Carolina, and New Jersey (when available). The only caveat being that because of local brick and mortar distributors, professionals picking up should never…. drive the company truck.
Our Heart Pine floors come in 8, 10, and 12-foot lengths. Clear and #2 grade pine are available in lengths up to 16 feet. Caribbean Heart Pine is milled and packaged in 12-foot nested bundles with an average length of 7 feet, offering flexibility for your installation.

Buying a real wood floor is an investment that should last generations, but for many homeowners and contractors, the most confusing part of the process isn’t the wood itself—it’s the logistics of getting several thousand pounds of Alabama timber to a job site. At Southern Yellow Pine Direct, we believe in "old school honesty," which means being transparent about how shipping works, how rates are calculated, and why the sticker price on a website rarely tells the whole story.

.Acclimation, sometimes called conditioning, is the process of allowing wood to reach its equilibrium moisture content (EMC) within “normal living conditions.” It is also one of the most important steps of hardwood floor installation. Not properly acclimating or conditioning wood flooring may cause excessive expansion, shrinkage, dimensional distortion, or even structural damage. Step one is to make sure that the heating and air conditioning units are in operation at least five days before delivery of the flooring, during installation and after the flooring is installed. If it is not possible for permanent HVAC to be operating before, during and after installation, a temporary system that mimics normal living conditions may enable installation to proceed.

‘Antiqued’ – The age a floor should reach before is called an antique is always been my first question, but this point is about the fact that Antiqued Heart Pine is not old at all, even by the marketing terms they use; if you know how to speak flooring. Antiqued is a finish style not an age description.

It is hard to find a better example than our Southern Pine, with its “rustic character,” aka color variations and knots. The beauty of this pine floor is after a decade or so, the floors darken and develop a patina only time can create. But what about correcting those little marks and accidents? This grade has so much character a colored pencil(s) or even a sharpie can work magic. Our customers usually choose a darker stain for the Southern Pine floor making little marks tough to see and easier to repair.
